Hello everyone,
For those who are not aware, there has been new transfers in leadership positions with the brand-new year, and with all the other changes, I hope that everyone can adjust seamlessly. Again, congratulations to all of those who received a troop position, and may your work be successful this term.
Hi All,
With our upcoming repelling trip, I would like to give you all a brief history of repelling! In 1876, a French tour guide created a new way of mountain traveling, called repelling. His name was Jean-Esteril Charlet and he did this on the French Alps. Repelling became popular in the 19th and 20th century, and is still very much used today. The highest anyone has repelled from is 28,840 feet! happy Halloween everyone.
TIPS/ TRICKS For upcoming trip:
- Wear long sleeves to prevent scrapes.
- Wear proper footwear
- Wear leather gloves to protect your hands from rope burns or blisters
- Wear sunscreen and bug spray
- Be sure to avoid any obstacles going down and be aware of your surroundings.
- Double check your systems before repelling
- Listen carefully and follow ALL instructions from your instructor
- Communicate Clearly: Before you start, announce “on repel” so that your partner below knows you are beginning your decent.
- Communicate Completion: Tell your partner that you are “off repel”
- Remove any weight un-needed for your decent
Hey all of Troop 380 this Timmy and for this blog I’d like to congratulate the crews that went to Philmont. I would also like to talk about popcorn starting back up and I’m going to be telling you how to be better at selling popcorn. Rule number one look people in the eyes to show them respect rule number two be confident remember these people don’t know you and confidence is key to selling popcorn . rule number three this helps the troop do fun things so you must ask everyone you see . Number four always remember you are a scout and you need to always say thank you or have a nice day even if they say no. I really hope that these quick tips helped you sell popcorn and be great people.
