3/11/2022 UPDATE:

Thank you everyone for you interest in attending Camp Crooked Creek this summer!  We currently have 21 scouts attending and 4 adults!

Here are a couple of reminders:

  • Balances are due to Mr. Buckingham NO LATER than 4/24/2022.  This will allow the troop to take advantage of the Early Bird discount.  Contact Mr. Buckingham for your remaining balance.
  • Medical Forms (Parts A, B, and C) are due by 6/26/2022.  A physician is required to complete Part C, so please do not delay.

With such a large group of scouts, we welcome help from other parents who would like to spend 1 day, 2 days, a week 🙂 with us.  Those of you spending the week will receive a t-shirt too!  Since our scouts can’t attend summer camp without our supervision, the troop will cover the $100 registration fee for adults who attend.

While it may be cold, rainy, snowing, and icy (all within the same week apparently!) it’s not too soon to start thinking about summer camp!  At our next meeting, we will begin promoting summer camp to the scouts, so I wanted to be sure that you had the information as well.

The details of camp are below, along with some key dates and next steps for your consideration.

Attached you will find the Leader’s Guide which is a great resource for answering any questions that you may have, or simply let me know if I can help.  Additionally, the Merit Badge Schedule can be found in the Leader’s Guide to help determine when each merit badge or program is offered.

Merit badge selections are due on March 4th.  Merit badge sessions are on a first-come-first-served basis, so it is important that your scout plan accordingly to ensure his selections.  I will ask that these selections are turned into me by the 2/27 Troop Meeting.

Each participant (scouts and adults) must have a completed medical form (Parts A, B, and C) on file.  Note: Part C must be completed by a physician so plan accordingly to ensure your spot at camp.  You can find the official medical form on the troop web site here: Medical-form_ABC.pdf (bsa380.com)

Lastly, our scouts can enjoy a week at Camp Crooked Creek only if we provide adequate leadership throughout the week.  We must have at least 2 adults on property at all times.  I am planning to attend all week, and welcome the comradery and assistance from anyone who would like to join us!  If you would like to learn more, please reach out to me.

FRONTIER PROGRAM:

We are excited to announce a special pilot program offering at Crooked Creek just during week 5 this year! The Frontier Program will be available to all First Class Scouts either all morning OR all afternoon plus an overnight experience Thursday. In this program, Scouts will focus on 3 parts of the Frontier Code:

  1. Respect the Out-Of-Doors
  2. Be Self Reliant
  3. Keep Your Word

Values we would all want our Scouts to carry into adulthood.

NEXT STEPS:

RSVP to Mr. Buckingham by 2/27/2022
Submit $75 down payment to Mr. Buckingham by 2/27/2022. Checks can be made to Troop 380.
Submit merit badge selections to Mr. Buckingham by 2/27/2022
Submit final payments to Mr. Buckingham by 4/24/2022.
Confirm t-shirt sizes with Mr. Buckingham by 4/24/2022.
Turn in completed medical form (Parts A, B, and C) to Mr. Buckingham by 6/26/2022.
